Japan - Timeless simplicity
Inspired by both Eastern and Western wisdom, the Japan project was created as a practice of traditional values and craftsmanship, seamlessly adapted to contemporary demands. Originally design as a table without screws and glue, it reflects "The art of joinery" where each connection holds natural constructive purpose.
Crafted with precision, every locking part is made from hard woods like Ebony or Coromandel ensuring optimal performance in assembling this complex table. While simpler models may require a touch of light glue, their practical and aesthetic value remains undiminished. Primarily constructed from Cherry wood, Ebony, tempered glass and finished with natural oil or shellac.
The Art of joinery
The essence of construction, stability, and quality lies in the meticulous craftsmanship inspired by Japanese tradition. At the core of our assembly technique are square holes and forms, establishing a remarkably strong and static constructive connection.
What sets our process apart is the deliberate omission of screws or metal elements, and the minimal use of glue, thus reducing tension and force between each individual part as wood naturally expands and contracts. This method, allowing for the natural movement of wood, is rooted in an appreciation that timber is a living material.
